Zalic, the little golden puppy that matched the dam and filly's own colours remarkably well yapped around the feet of Poltergeist as he appeared. The puppy's barks alerted Chemical to the presence of her herd leader and in response, she nudged her few day old filly forward. The filly had disappeared somewhere earlier day on their trip and returned, mightily proud, with beautiful hair decorations which she now wore proudly. Multiple ribbons, beads, bells and clips were woven, clipped and plaited into the filly's forelock, mane and tail, making them shine and glimmer whenever she shifted her weight.
Nudging the filly forward, Chem arched her neck and blew out through her nostrils proudly. Poltergeist's new title for the mare rung pleasantly through her ears and a bigger smile lit up the mare's face. Oh, how things had changed over the past while.
Poltergeist, I would like to introduce to you our filly, Ghostly Warfare. Or Ghost for short. In honour of both our names and I believe it suits her quite well, for she is as silent and white as a ghost, but as feisty as if she were fighting for those she loved.
__
Ghost walked bravely up to her father, a huge intimidating stallion, and looked him squarely in the face with her bright orange eyes. The feathers on her feet made her footsteps nearly silent and the wings she carried proudly on her back shuffled as she stood there, nose to nose, with her father.
Suddenly, the filly let out a loud squeal that hurt her dam's ears, arching her neck as she nipped gently at her father's nose affectionately. Her two sets of ears were pointed in opposite directions - the ones behind her normal set were pointed towards her dam and the others posted forward towards her Sire until a small yap at her heels distracted Ghost and she bent her head to snuffle Zalic's stomach affectionately.
She was born in excellent health and was walking within a mere hour. I have never seen another foal do that. She shall grow to be a strong, courageous mare. Chem's soft voice drifted around the small group, pride, affection and sadness echoing among her words all at once. How quickly life came and how quickly it was snuffed out. Nothing was set in stone.
