Illium
In retrospect, her attraction to this place made a lot of sense.
The strange mare had no idea that this land of Lauo had been here, but had woven her way haphazardly through the countryside until she'd reached it anyway, and as soon as she'd stepped into the disorienting darkness, it made sense.
At first, she couldn't believe her eyes: one moment, it had been noon, and then gradually it had been as dark as the middle of the night, and she didn't think there'd been enough time to warrant that. But, more importantly, she wasn't unusual here-- or, well, she wasn't totally unusual.
Everything here, the gigantic mushrooms like she had never seen before, glowed. This was exhilarating, because she glowed too-- perhaps not as brightly, and not in as many places, but it was a parallel between her and her surroundings that she had never seen. It gave this place an unearthly effect, and she felt this was appropriate, because people told her that her tendrils gave her an unearthly effect.
Giddy with delight at the discovery of this place, she trotted deeper into the land, oblivious to the consequences of it being potentially owned, and put her nose directly up to one of the glowing toadstools, testing it's reality.

'CAUSE YOU'RE GONNA NEED ONE TO GET RID OF ME BABY
A huge grey stallion watched from underneath a glowing mushroom as a mare trotted throughout his lands. Nostrils flared as he searched for a scent and glowing-blue eyes carefully peered out from his spot. The mare was odd, with tendrils of some sort peeking out from her body. But the centres glowed, like his eyes, but different with a beautiful red. Like blood...
Detox, slightly distracted now, followed the mare at a distance and to her right, keeping just slightly out of her line of view (or so he hoped) as he waited and watched to see what her next move would be.
However, when the fae stopped before a glowing mushroom and stuck her nose into it's underside, a small smile appeared on his face. The grey brute slowly approached the mare from the side now, his blue eyes matching the hues on some of the plants that he emerged from.
I wouldn't do that if I were you. They have been known to give one a serious case of non-stop sneezing for well over a few hours. Let me tell you, it's not very pleasant. A wry smile was pasted on the Warmblood x Clydesdale's face as his feathered feet picked their way confidently as he approached the mare, ears pricked forward and nostrils flared as he let his senses explore the unknown member in his land.

Illium
Illium was aware, in some abstract way, that there was a stallion approaching- she could smell him, but that knowledge hadn't seemed to translate into any particular meaning to her. In a similar way, she understood the horse the smell was attached to was the leader of this particular land, probably. Neither fact seemed to concern her, as she inspected the glowing mushrooms, her tendrils casting light on the glowing blue object.
Illium only acknowledged the stranger when he spoke, and it was her tendrils that indicated the shift in attention first: the prehensile, glow-tipped stalks twisted towards the stranger, casting red light in his direction, followed shortly thereafter by her head. Her pupil-less eyes were wide and curious and totally without fear.
"Do they?" she asked, her tones disappointed at this fact. "That's tragic-- they look so friendly! They glow." Glowing things seemed to be held in particularly high esteem by this strange little mare, but she retracted her nose from the toadstool anyway, and turned to regard Detox more closely. "You glow too." she observed, and seemed excited by this prospect: "I've never seen a horse do that before. Besides me, of course."

'CAUSE YOU'RE GONNA NEED ONE TO GET RID OF ME BABY
Detox watched with curiosity as the tendrils upon the mare's body turned toward him, a half smile quirking up one side of his dark lips. The red glow from them distracted him - he hadn't seen another who had glowing markings on themselves for quite a while. Meeting one similar to him lit up the stallion's face in a more genuine smile.
Detox watched with a detached curiosity as her pupil-less eyes turned towards him and the grey brute took note of the brave but curious emotions that passed underneath them. He gave a small nod to himself, thinking This one seems strong and determined. I like that!
He blinked once as the red light illuminated his face, blue and red mixing pleasantly to create a purple hue that seemed to radiate around the pair. A curious effect, Detox thought distractedly. A small smile quirked up his lips as her disappointed tone came through to him and he tipped his ears forward in her direction. With a chuckle, he stepped forward and closer to the mare, which bought him underneath the shade of the glowing toadstool, giving his grey coat the appearance of being blue instead.
Yes, the look very friendly, but not when you can't stop sneezing for a long while. You can't smell or taste anything afterwards for days. Quite unpleasant. Detox tilted his head to the side, studying the mare with a quiet curiosity. She reminded him of Vervain, the first and newest addition to his herd, with her quiet curiosity. His nostrils flared as he took in her sweet, intoxicating scent and his eyes glowed brighter than ever.
You glow too. I've never seen a horse do that before. Besides me, of course.
A grin lit up the grey stallion's face and he dropped his head lower the ground, a rumbling laugh coming from deep in his chest. His forelock blew in his eyes and with an impatient shake, Detox tossed it away.
Yes, I glow. Sometimes a blessing, sometimes a curse. But yes, you glow as well - I must say, it has been a long time since I have seen another glowing horse, and if I may say so myself, it makes you all the more radiant. What is your name, my beautiful?
OOC: Sorry if it's a little rambly, it's been a long day and I had a long day at school D:

Illium
The confirmation that the mushrooms would bring nothing but sneezing fits had Illium looking at them with a mildly regretful glance; if only it was possible to teach manners to fungi as it was to other horses. Alas, she was aware of reality enough to know that was not possible, even if she oft wished it was.
But now the stallion was walking closer to her, and was illuminated by the blue of toadstool's light: a charming effect, really. This place, with it's spooky glow-lit landscape, was very much a comforting Aesthetic to Illium, despite never having been anywhere like this before. That Detox seemed to fit perfectly here, his neutral coat picking up the colors of the lighting, only seemed appropriate, if he was indeed the leader.
Not entirely sure how she felt about being referred to as 'his' beautiful, but also not particularly willing to cause strife over so little a thing, she answered only with "I am Illium." Her voice was confident, but friendly: it was a name she was proud of. "Who are you? The leader of these lands?"
It was impossible not to hear a slight covetous note in her voice, when she referred to the land itself-- not that she wanted it for her own, of course, but already she was forging an attachment with this place.
One of his passing comments had caught a strand of her curiosity, too, and it only took her a second to add, "You've met other glowing horses?", unable to repress the fascination. Certainly she didn't think she was the only one, but that there might be more...
OOC: Pfft, i love the rambles. Ramble away!

'CAUSE YOU'RE GONNA NEED ONE TO GET RID OF ME BABY
Detox grinned at the mares mournful look at the huge mushrooms. That was his own reaction - he had felt touched by them, connected in a way as he glowed the same colour as many of them. He had learnt which ones did not affect one as much as others and it was under these that he slept each night - or, well, when he assumed was night. One could never tell in these lands.
With a nod, Detox listened to the mare intently. Illium. A delightful name, if I may say so. I have not heard one so unique. It is beautiful. I am Detox, and yes, I am the leader of this land only, named Lauo. It is a pleasure to meet you, Illium. Detox murmured softly to the mare, trying to keep his tone neutral and not overdo it. Was she nervous at his words? A slight frown distorted his blue stripes over his face but it quickly smoothed out. Suddenly though, he registered the tone of her voice - attached, attracted to it. A soft smile replaced the frown as he related to the mare. He certainly knew what she was feeling. It was hard not to grow to love this land, even more so for Detox as the darkness allowed him to see as clear as day.
I've only met one other glowing horse, and only in passing. Her eyes glowed. I have not met another since then. Detox watched the mare closely... her emotions were hard to keep track of, especially with her quick subject changes. He reminded her so much of Vervain. A crooked smile replaced his gentle one - Detox seemed to be full of different smiles - as he watched her, monitoring her different emotions with nothing short of curiosity and fascination.
OOC: xD Sorry for the short post, I wanted to reply just before I head off to bed xD

Illium
That Detox was watching her reactions did not escape her notice, and was also not a surprise. Illium's quick intake of the world and equally-quick cascade of emotional reactions to it had long held fascination for many horses she met, as if it were an unusual trait. She did as she always did towards that particular fact: internal shrug, move on.
Instead, she allowed herself a second of disappointment, that Detox had not met more glowing horses. In the few seconds she had come to entertain the idea, she thought that perhaps this land-- Lauo, as it's master called it, might attract them. Perhaps it still would, yet. "That's a pity- but perhaps we shall meet more."
Illium was not entirely without manners, though, and Detox had just complimented her name, so she smiled warmly at him. "Thank you, it is nice to meet you also." For a tic, her expression was thoughtful, and then delighted, and she said, "You know, I don't often meet kings and herd leaders and that like-- mostly only wanderers, really." People trying to see what they could see-- which, up until now, was what Illium was.

That's a pity- but perhaps we shall meet more.
Detox smirked suddenly at the mare's reply. Hmmm... An idea had sprung into the grey's head and he longed to share it.
Perhaps we shall. And invite them to live here, where the glowing horses can thrive in a glowing land. Fitting, don't you think? Detox grinned at the mare, his blue eyes narrowing to slits as he smiled. Yes, he could start up a little herd of glowy-horses. He snickered.
You know, I don't often meet kings and herd leaders and that like-- mostly only wanderers, really.
Detox's ears flickered forward. How can one not have met kings and leaders and such? They seem to be everywhere nowadays.. Detox snorted in annoyance. It was very hard to claim mares at this stage for there were so many stallions about... Shaking his head, Detox returned his attention to the mare.
Then I am even more honoured to have gained the favour of speaking to you, Illium, Detox inclined his head, smiling crookedly. He shifted his weight around and blinked slowly; his markings appeared to distort and the soft glow from his eyes disappearing. A wanderer though. The grey stallion watched her closely - was she ready to settle down? Detox contemplated this question before giving in to his mental questions with a mental shrug.
Dear Illium, if you are in need of a place to stay, both temporary and permanent, Lauo is always open to you with welcoming arms. I would be delighted to have another around my lands.
