Kai! The trip back home from the fire maiden was much faster then the trip to, and that was probably in large part because the young colt had been infused with excitement at the gifts of the fire maiden-- excitement that had turned to an abundance of energy almost immediately. He all but bounced his way home, the black sack with that contained the firestones clutched in his jaws.
Daesia followed behind him at a slower pace, alert now only because they were away from home-- the Fire maiden had soothed a lot of her worries, and she felt more relaxed then she had since arriving in Poltergeist's kingdom.
As soon as their hooves touched familiar ground, Kai bounced around joyously and slung the bag of stones over his shoulders, so that he could free his mouth and call out for his sister. "Elda!" he shouted to his twin, looking around for her and the wolf-pack. "We're back and we got things!"
Daesia was content to let the twins get each other's attention, though she too was scanning the area sharply-- as soon as her eyes found her daughter, she would relax, give them both their potions, and perhaps indluge in the gifts that she had been given and take a nap-- home was safe, especially with the wolf-pack and the promises of strength that came with the potions.

Legs were hard ot manage for the young filly let alone the extra 4 she had to deal with. She felt like a lanky spider who couldn't quite get the rythem of moving them right, her body a muscled and rippling example of just how much would be needed to move each leg. But this tiredness she felt would not go away, as though the very warmth of the sun was leeching her energy. She had hardly felt up to going with her mother so she had taken to wandering around the forest with the wolves instead. Curious yellow eyes examining everything around her. Her ears swiveling as she heard her own name on the voice of her brother. She flicked her tail and moved her many legs towards the sound. Her fathers black wolf at her tail happily greeting the white that guarded her mother. The other two pups were still young but each of them was growing attached to their own foal. Eventually Kai and Elda would take one each her father had said. She felt strange speaking words, as though they held power and they must be used with caution. Here I am. What have you got? as a result her speech seemed sometimes blunt and without the smoothness of social fluidility. Her eyes looked at the dark sack and the things her mother carried. What exactly had they gotten and where had they gone? She figured her brother would soon fill in the gaps...

Kai! It was said of twins that they were two parts of one whole. Kai did not know if that was true-- all he knew was that seeing his many-legged sister running up in the company of the lake's wolves filled him with a sense of balance he'd been missing without completely noticing. He bounced around with joy to close the distance between them-- an easier task for him, with only the normal number of legs.
Words came more easily to him- either because they did not seem so powerful to him, or he was easier about the concept of wielding his power. After all, he was a prince-- and now he felt like one, with jewels across his back. Granted, they were currently hidden from view, but that would change soon.
"We saw the fire maiden! She was real." He told Elda, almost breathless with the excitement that was only now starting to ebb. "She gave us jewels." And with that bit of explanation, he took the sack from his back and placed it carefully on the ground, nosing the edges open to reveal the two stones: one red and one yellow. "They have magic! Fire magic." there was more to it, of course, but he was so excited for his sister's reaction that he left it at that for the moment.
Daesia observed all of this with the patience of a relieved mother, a skeptical eyebrow raised. She'd give them warnings on the stones herself, if Elda proved to take Kai's unrestrained approach to the things: magical gifts were to be used carefully, and not abused. But, for the moment, she wouldn't rain on her son's parade-- instead she approached the two of them, and removed the bottles and put them beside the sack. "Before you both get too distracted, drink these, please. The Fire Maiden has gifted you both with potions of strength."

She didnt' really have much to say at this point and let her brother do the talking, she did however walk up to him. As much as an 8 legged newborn filly could walk, it was much more of an amble. She stuck her nose into the back to examine these so called magical stones. as soon as her body came into contact with them she sneezed, and small embers escaped her nostrils. Its a good thing the back was fire proof or it'd all be up in flames. She supposed it would have to be to house that kind of thing. Fear erupted threw her at the realisation of what had just happened, and she quickly stumbled backwards falling into a pile of legs...quite literally. She whimpered and barely heard what her mother said far too focused on the warmth at her nostrils and feeling of it rippeling across her. She sighed and tired to focus, the others of course would know something was wrong with her. What if they abandoned her because she was different, or they thought she was a monster. She afterall had 8 legs and seemed to be beggining to breathe fire. She stumbeled over to her mother in as normal as a gait as she could manage and quickly swallowed the pink potion and closed her eyes as it tingeled on her tongue. That tastes funny she said and sneezed again as a cloud of ash escaped her nostrils. oh dear...what is this? she whimpered.

Kai and Daesia
Daesia watched Elda with growing concern-- she hadn't been expecting the little one to fall backwards and start breathing fire, though she was perhaps slightly more prepared for it then Elda was: she'd been there when the gifts had been given, after all, and had heard that the children would be better at fire.
Stepping forward when Elda fell backwards, she lowered her nose to the foal, ready to help the young one figure out her larger assortment of legs if needed-- mutant or not, these were still her children, her first living children and the heirs of lake Vier, and she wanted them as well and happy as she could provide.
"It's a potion of strength the fire-maiden gave me." Daesia replied to Elda's question, her tones worried, "It should improve your health-- is it not working?" That was, perhaps, her greatest fear of this moment: that this promised gift would prove to be of no use to her beloved young, and that they would stay sickly and beyond the help of even magic...
Kai, meanwhile, drank his own potion and dropped the bottle in shock at the feelings of sudden warmth running through him. This was what brought out the fire in him- that, likely, and his exposure to the stones even through the bag. The aches in his body that had been present since his birth evaporated, and sparks rose from his own nose. The warmth was... too warm, warmer then living things were normally, but it did not feel bad... not at all. It felt fantastic.
"I think it's working!" Kai said out loud, and then turned to his sister and nudged her-- very gently, for he didn't want to knock her over-- on the shoulder. "And I can breathe fire-sparks too! I think that's part of the fire-lady's gift."
Far from being frightened at this new ability that he and his sister had quite unexpectedly developed, Kai was thrilled, and this showed in his voice as clearly as it did in his expression. He could breathe fire. That was so cool!
