After leaving the presence of the Fire Maiden the stallion had carried the chalice away in his tail and the dove away on his back. The tiny white bird had seemed dazed and wanted to swiftly get away out of the element. So, he found a nice cave near the waves to take shelter for the night whereupon he laid down then gently removed the bird from his back to lay it between his forelegs. The tiny bird stared up at him, its small blue eyes conveying confusion. Its poor broken wing hung limply at its side, it would be a lot of work to get it back to normal but he was up to it.
His large head lowered so that he could softly nuzzle the fragile bird then ever so softly he dropped something from his mouth. A worm that he had uprooted on his way to the cave. The tiny bird accepted his offering with a happy chirp. A smile made its way onto Nocturne's dark face and his blue markings glowed with the happiness he felt. It was a strange feeling to be caring for another creature but he enjoyed it, just as he had enjoyed talking with that tiny foal Kraken. Perhaps he was more partial to helpless, sweet things than he thought... He nearly snorted in laughter at the thought. Uncle Nocturne indeed!
"Just sit tight, Little Hathor. I'll take good care of you. That wing'll be back to normal in no time at all."
Seemed like the Fire Maiden knew more about him than he knew himself. [/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]

Typheous Ty would recognize that blue anywhere.
He fist glimpsed it, barely, in the entrance of a cave: a faint blue light, at odds with Cervica around him. It had intrigued him, tweaked his curiosity, and caused a surge of anger in his chest: perhaps the source of the glow wasn't what he was expecting, but if it was, that being had caused his recent issues, was the reason he'd been expelled from his herd.
Completely forgetting any other purpose to his venturing here, he turned and charged for that cave, with the slightest hint of blue glow, and only stopped short when he reached the entrance and saw the two figures. The horse he'd recognize anywhere: that blue markings, the lion's tail, that was his brother, feeding what looked like a baby bird. How appropriate.
"Brother." he hissed, resentment in his tones, and then couldn't resist adding, "Grasseater." He bared his own sharp teeth and took a step into the cave, both of his tails lashing with frustration.
He'd never expected to find Nocturne here, but now that he had, it was as if he was frozen: all he could feel was anger and resentment for what Nocturne had done to him, had caused, but nothing guiding that anger in any direction.
OOC| I'm as fine with them going > at each other permantly as i am with them reconciling, so I'm following your lead. Also, 'uncle nocturne' makes me melt inside. Kraken sends his <3!

The tiny avian gobbled down its meal and settled down against his chest, deciding that this strange horse would be its "mother". The stallion smiled and prepared to fall asleep himself but for some reason he couldn't. Something felt wrong, he couldn't but his hoof on it but it made him nervous. Now he knew what it was, a scent. Not just any scent though, the scent of his old herd. His ears started twitching as he tried to locate the source but he didn't have to look long for a voice came to him from the entrance. It was a voice he knew well.
"Brother." Nocturne's pupil-less eyes found the red shape of his brother. The first emotion he felt was pure anger, here was the reason he had to leave his herd. Why everything was shattered around him and the reason he was alone now. The next emotion he felt was fear. Typheous had always been a better fighter than he and there was no way to shimmy out around the stallion to escape without getting seriously injured. There was also the other question of whether or not Ty was alone. What if he'd sold him out and the rage of the herd was so great that they'd hunted him down for punishment.
Well, better to play it cool than behave like a coward.
Nocturne rose slowly to his hooves and took a step forward to hide Hathor --who had been woken up and was blinking sleepily around-- from view. His own leonine tail lashed while his lips lifted to show the full length of his saber-teeth. "Better to be a grasseater than a cannibalistic jerk. Tell me, have you gotten into Mother's favor yet or does she still hate to look at you?"
He knew the relationship that their mother and Ty had had so he'd aimed those words especially for him. He'd probably pay for it but if Typheous was here to punish him anyway then he may as well say what he wanted before he was unable to. [/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]

Typheous Ty stiffened and narrowed his eyes; nothing had changed between them, and yet, everything had changed. Nocturne had no idea how much-- and if Ty had his way, it would remain such. He was only vindictively certain of one thing: if he, Typheous, proud son and warrior of the herd, had been exiled and couldn't return, then of course he couldn't allow his grasseater brother to go back either. Nocturne must be led to believe that his secret was out there, and that he was hunted in those lands.
Trashing his tails, Ty considered the potential of saying he'd been sent by the herd to finish the deed and hunt him down outside of the land of their birth... but he wouldn't, not yet. After all, he wasn't totally recovered from his own harrowing exile.
His first response to Nocturne's words was an angry hiss, and he put his ears back, not moving from the entrance to the cavern. He was bodily blocking it, which gave him some sort of advantage. "What Mother thinks," he spat his words as if they were acid, "is no concern of yours, and never will be again." his eyes shifted to the form of the little bird behind his brother, and his lips twisted into a cruel smirk of sorts. "Have you taken to mothering birds in your exile? You were always unreasonably soft."

His first words of how he needn't concern himself over their mother's thoughts had Nocturne's eyes widened in trepidation. What was that supposed to mean? Had Ty indeed ratted out his secret? Had something happened to their mother? So many questions to be answered... Questions that he probably would never get the answer to unless he returned home. The chances of that happening were about the same as him magically sprouting wings, white fur, and flying. "Why? Have you found a way to blackmail her as well?"
The bright blue eyes remained on Typheous as he watched for any sudden moves, Nocturne wouldn't put it past him to attack. Ears lowered until they were pinned against his head when the red stallion's attention shifted to the tiny bird behind him. Hathor twittered nervously at the aggressive form of the bearded horse since her only experience had been with the always-calm black stallion; this new angry horse made her tiny heart beat with fear. Nocturne gave a soft nicker of reassurance to the dove before glaring at his brother. "She was given to me as a gift and I will care for her to the best of my abilities." His voice sounded slightly defensive even though Ty's words were true. He had always been soft even if he never admitted to it, hell, he didn't like to admit to it now. In fact, he wasn't going to in front of his brutish brother! A golden hoof stamped angrily on the ground as he opened his mouth to speak, "It doesn't make me soft because I take care of her! In fact, I'll fight any horse who says otherwise. So why don't you come over here and say that to my face and we'll see how soft I am." The soft brush of Hathor's feathers against his rear fetlock make him remember her. It also made him think how hard it would be to fight with the lamed bird so close. Last time he checked he couldn't even beat his brother in a fight, let alone try to protect a bird while doing so. Perhaps he shouldn't have let his temper get the better of him... [/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]

Typheous Any answer that Typheous could give to the other stallion would've betrayed his own circumstances of exile, and that was not something he wanted his brother to know of. Further, the idea of leaving Nocturne to twist in the wind over the opinions of their old herd was a very attractive idea to him. If Typheous had to be miserable, then so did Nocturne. That was the way their relationship had always been, and he saw no reason for that to end now; having someone to torment was a great distraction for one's own miseries.
So, instead of responding to the subject of their mother, Typheous stepped forward, eyes narrowed and a smile on his face. He wouldn't turn down an invitation to fight from a stranger, and from his own brother? "Is that a challenge, Brother? You know I can best you anywhere." His own sharpened teeth were visible now, as he spoke. "These lands have a place for fighting. I shall rise your challenge- why don't we meet there and see how worthy you are to protect anything?" His tones took on a distinctly amused tone, as he added, "Don't worry, I won't hurt your feathery daughter."

Idiot. Fool. Moron. Those were the words that coursed through Nocturne's head right after the words had escaped his maw. What he'd said had been out of anger, his temper getting the best of him. In all reality fighting was the last thing he wanted because he wasn't the best at it, especially not against Ty. Bluffing and maybe getting a kick in at a stubborn, bully had saved him in the past. Though his bluff had failed and his brother was no simple bully to be turned away at a show of bravado. Now he had to go and fight or be classified as a coward.
"If you can best me anywhere then you should have nothing to worry about."
Now he was just digging a deeper and deeper hole for himself. Surprisingly though there was no fear within him, only anticipation. After all the time he'd been away from him and the herd they would finally get to have this fight. It was a glorious feeling, the anger was starting to burn at his belly. "I will be glad to fight you anywhere at anytime, brother." Ears were completely flattened and his tail lashed before he twined it around the chalice on the ground to pick it up. His head lowered as he turned to pick up the tiny bird and place it on his back between his shoulder blades. Hathor twittered nervously but settled down for the ride they would soon have. "For your sake you'd better not." There was a distinct warning in his eyes as he talked of Hathor. He'd gotten attached to her quite easily and really did see the bird as his own child since he distinctly lacked his own. "Now, unless you've grown cowardly being away from the herd. Let's see these fighting lands of yours." His voice gave more confidence than he actually felt. If Ty had been sent to finish the job then it'd be easier to get it over with sooner than later. [/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]
