She had been traveling for days, on land and water, to find the perfect place to set up her home. A home that would have water for her to be comfortable and suitable land for other horses to enjoy. That in itself was proving to be a challenge... Where would such a place be? Did such a place even exist? Maybe she'd just have to retreat solely to the water and set up a home there with just a place for water-horses. The thought stuck sourly in her throat like a bad piece of a seaweed so she kept going. She would be damned if she would exclude land-dwellers like her father! She would be better than him and let everyone join, it would make her stronger and better than him!
Stubbornly she continued on with her land travel, the sun felt like it was baking her back, removing the water that kept her going. Fins lowers on her body to conserve what reserve she had left but it wasn't enough... She needed water but there was none to be found! Her dry tongue ran around her mouth as her eyesight began to get foggy. Finally she was forced to close them in favor of echolocation, in hopes of finding a relief to her suffering. Soon she was saved by a picture in her mind. The echolocation revealed to her a huge expanse of water and moments later her nose smelled it as well.
The seahorse stumbled along as quick as she could then slid into the surf. She expected to feel saltwater but what she found out was that this was freshwater. A whole ocean of it! Glorious! The creature zoomed around in the water as fast as she could, reveling in the energy it restored back to her. Finally she was able to force herself back to the land. What she noticed now that her vision and senses weren't hampered by dryness was the fact that the whole area was like a grassy field with a few trees here and there. The ground also held a wide array of flowers that looked quite tasty. Looking further she discovered a large cliff near the ocean with a yawning hole in the side which could provide shelter to land-horses while underwater there had been an underwater cave for sea-horses. This place was perfect.
The seahorse stood as straight as she could and sang in a sweet voice, "This land of freshwater with vibrant trees and fields of flowers will serve my needs perfectly. It shall be claimed by me, Kalipso, of the Borealis Clan."
