Vervain
* * * The sound of light laughter could be heard bouncing around the cliffside and blackened area of The Rift. One would think that a young foal was playing but if one looked further they could see that this wasn't the case. Instead of a tiny foal playing there was a large palomino Shire horse and for these lands she was a strange one. No special markings marred her pelt and neither did any special colors save for her navy blue eyes but these were hidden beneath the large sheaf of fur on her head. The only thing out of the ordinary was the thick tail with is wicked pronged spike at the end, it swept back and forth over the ground stirring up dust as the Shire bounded around.
Why was a full grown horse bounding around in play like a foal? Perhaps because she had never truly grown up but whatever the case her voice rang out happily as she stomped the ground stirred up dirt. After a while she tired herself out and paused to catch her breath, golden pelt stained by the dark debris. "This one likes playing. But wishes she had a playmate..."
She momentarily wilted because being alone was something that she still wasn't used to. However, she brushed it aside as a tiny blue butterfly fluttered past her nose. A whiny of pure delight escaped her before she trotted right after the tiny thing. Her hooves caused plumes of dust to fly up because of her great weight but her dirtiness didn't concern her. It would only become a problem if someone else mentioned and told her to get clean, otherwise she was happy just to play all day. "Come back. Just want to play!" She chased after the butterfly that, to her great dismay, flew away into the sky. She gave a great leap to try and touch it but of course, came up short. So, she settled with just watching it flutter away. Her thick tailed twitched behind her and her ears were perked forward in the exact direction that she was looking as all of her attention was focused on not loosing the tiny insect. 'CAUSE YOU'RE GONNA NEED ONE TO GET RID OF ME BABY
The smell of mare reached the nostrils of the tall, grey stallion before the trilling sound of her voice did. Stepping out from beneath a particularly large tree, Detox entered the clearing, his ears flickered forward. It was daytime so his vision was non-existent, but his other senses made up for it. With quivering nostrils, the stallion stepped out further into his clearing, footsteps careful and searching but still purposeful. His blue markings rippled along his frame as his athletic muscles expanded and retracted. Heavy, blue-streaked feathers kept his footfalls quiet from the mare as he approached her from behind.
Deary, if you spent more time chasing stallions than insects, you could spend the rest of your life chasing insects and not stallions. Detox smirked a little at his riddle and side-stepped so he wouldn't startle the mare. Although he was blind, the scent and sound of the other horse was enough to tell that she was a big horse, perhaps even taller than himself. His blue eyes glowed from underneath his blue-streaked forelock and he smiled in the general direction of the mare.

Vervain
* * *
So engrossed was she in watching the retreating shape of the butterfly that the quiet approach of the stallion went unheard until he spoke. Vervain started and leaped forward, her thick tail swung as her body moved forward. It was a good thing that the stallion side-stepped or the spike on her tail could have gone straight through him. As it was though she simply turned around with curiosity bright in her eyes.
She gave a gasp of pure surprise and wonder because in all her years she'd never seen a stallion that glowed! It was amazing and she stepped closer to him to get a better look. The eyes beneath her great sheaf of head hair blinked rapidly as she unabashedly stared. "Oh! The eyes! The eyes glow! The eyes are pretty!"
The butterfly was completely forgotten about, the words that the stallion spoke were almost forgotten as well but she managed to pull them from her short-term memory banks. "But why would this one want to chase stallions? She likes insects! 'Specially pretty ones!" At that moment she remembered the butterfly that she had been chasing and she turned sadly to see that it wasn't in sight anymore. However, she gave a shrug and was instantly happy again to have such good company as the glowing stallion. "Butterfly is gone now. But is okay. Now Vervain has a new playmate!" Until the stallion said otherwise she would be perfectly happy to play because in her mind that was all that mattered... That and following orders, of course. 'CAUSE YOU'RE GONNA NEED ONE TO GET RID OF ME BABY
Detox chuckled at the fae's over-excitable nature. She was quite adorable, really. A stir of wind next to him made him appreciate his side-step as he heard the whistle of the mare's tail fly through the air. Hmmm, must have a solid tail...
Yes, my eyes glow. But they don't come without a price, little one. Tox smiled a crooked, charming smile at the mare as she took a step closer. She smelled like flowers, her voice as sweet as a summer's breeze. Detox liked her immediately and knew he would even if he wasn't a sucker for mares. If only he could see her in day...
But why would this one want to chase stallions? She likes insects! 'Specially pretty ones!
Again, Detox couldn't not hold back a chuckle. His eyes lit up, the glow becoming even brighter at the mare's comments.
Well, sweetheart, if you chase stallions for a brief period and allow them to grant you a home land, I'm sure you can spend the rest of your life without fear - and chasing all the insects you would like. Have you ever seen a firefly before?
Detox let his ears flicker toward the way he had entered the land from, towards his own homeland Lauo. He was already missing the forever night land with it's beautiful glowing plants and the towering mushrooms. Detox had a pretty strong suspicion this fae would enjoy his lands immensely, chasing the glowing insects forever.
Butterfly is gone now. But is okay. Now Vervain has a new playmate!
Detox nodded, his attention returning to the fae in front of him. If he stretched his neck out, he could nearly touch her on her forehead. He shifted his stance a little, the blue lines along his frame giving off their odd illusion of being distorted and moving of their own accord.
That's okay dear, there are plenty more butterflies in these lands. And yes, Vervain has a new playmate! Is that your name? Vervain? It is an absolute pleasure to meet you, my dear. My name is Detox, ruler of Lauo. Detox let a smile spread across his grey-streaked-blue face and bowed low to the ground before rising to his full, tall height.

Vervain
* * *
Little one? No one had ever called her little before save for the horses that she could remember from dreams. They always had kind words and talked about how much they loved her... She didn't know their names though and it made her sad. However, it made her trust the stallion more. She wondered if he would want her to come with him? She hoped so, it would be nice to have company again instead of wandering alone with no one to talk to.
Usually when someone refers to anothers eyes lighting up it's just a figure of expression but here the stallion's eyes actually did go brighter! Vervain gave a neigh of surprise and happiness as she watched this take place. This stallion was so interesting! From his eyes all the way to his shimmering markings! Vervain preferred his eyes though, they were increasingly beautiful to her. They drew her like a moth to a flame and she found herself able to focus on one thing rather than have her mind flit all over the place like it sometimes did.
Well, sweetheart, if you chase stallions for a brief period and allow them to grant you a home land, I'm sure you can spend the rest of your life without fear - and chasing all the insects you would like. Have you ever seen a firefly before? Vervain tilted her head to the side as she thought. Fear? She'd never felt fear before... well, she did when her old master had been angry at her but since being on her own she'd never been afraid of anything. Though what he said about a home land and chasing insects sounded super fun! She'd always been on the move even with her old band and as for chasing insects that was practically nonexistent when on a job! This stallion seemed like a really really nice guy! Even moreso than her old master. "No. Never seen a firefly. Bet they are pretty like butterflies!"
The poor girl really hadn't seen a firefly before she'd only heard one of her friends talk about them and from their description they sounded like lovely bugs. "Yes. This one is called Vervain. This one is also pleased and excited to meet Ruler-Detox!" She gave one of her sweet smiles --one of the ones that was unconsciously sweet-- because she was completely unused to such a polite gesture, like a bow, given towards herself. No one had ever behaved so elegantly to her before! She blinked a few times before turning to first look back in the direction that Detox had flicked his ear then back intently at the gray and blue stallion. "Will Vervain get to see Ruler-Detox's land Lauo? Oh! This one bet's it is beautiful! She can't wait to see! Oh--um... only if Ruler-Detox wants her to see." Her head lowered slightly as she shyly watched the stallion before her. [/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]

'CAUSE YOU'RE GONNA NEED ONE TO GET RID OF ME BABY
Detox watched the fae curiously as she processed all his words. This one would need a lot of patience, time and care - just like a young horse, really. With a small smile, the big brute waited patiently whilst she gathered her wits. The sun seemed to be on it's descent, Detox guessed from the feel of the shadows and sun on his coat.
The stallion's smile broadened into a grin as the mare neighed her surprise and joy at his eyes. Sometimes they merely were annoying, alerting strangers of his presence, but they sure did come in handy for providing a good distraction... Blinking slowly, Detox let the glow in his eyes dim before flashing again, repeating the process a few times. He had only recently discovered this trick as it took a lot of concentration but he was more than happy to show off in front of the mare.
No. Never seen a firefly. Bet they are pretty like butterflies! Detox let a sly look slide across his face and he stretched his head closer to the mare, beckoning her to come closer.
You know what, my dear Vervain? Fireflies are even more beautiful than butterflies - and they glow as well, just like my eyes! the grey stallion whispered his words as if sharing a secret to her, his eyes lighting up with his amusement. Can I tell you a secret, too? My land is eternal night, but any horse can see in the dark because all of the mushrooms grow taller than you and I and everything glows just like my eyes!
Detox was left quite stunned by the force of Vervain's sweet smile - it was so innocent and lovely, he had never seen anything of the like, even when Aphissa had smiled at him.
Will Vervain get to see Ruler-Detox's land Lauo? Oh! This one bet's it is beautiful! She can't wait to see! Oh--um... only if Ruler-Detox wants her to see.
My dear Vervain, you are much more than welcome to come and see my land - even call it your home if it would please you. My home is open and welcome to all, especially those as beautiful as you. Although the stallion felt that he was smiling all the time around this fae, Tox looked upon her with fondness in his blind, glowing eyes.

The large mare nodded her head and moved closer as Detox began to whisper words into her ears. So, fireflies were prettier! How amazing! She couldn't wait to see them! She also couldn't wait to see the rest of his territory if what he said was true, and how could it not be?! He wouldn't lie to her! The gullible mare was quite sure he had no reason to. She shivered in excitement at the thought of all of the glowing mushrooms and bugs; the mare wanted to see this place of eternal night badly. Her night vision wasn't the best but she wasn't blind at night either and if everything glowed then she should be fine.
Her eyes remained on the stallion's glowing ones, completely trusting and unable to act out against anyone without being told to do so. Her thick reptile-like tail swished behind her as she stood there starting to daydream about life in the night-land with its glowing fauna. However, before she went completely remote and forgot to answer she shook her head and made herself focus once again on Detox's intoxicating gaze.
My dear Vervain, you are much more than welcome to come and see my land - even call it your home if it would please you. My home is open and welcome to all, especially those as beautiful as you. She blinked a few times in surprise and even her ears twitched to make sure that she was hearing him correctly. Beautiful? She'd never been called beautiful... Except by those horses in her dreams but they were just dreams. This was real. He hadn't used any sharp words or any commands like she was used to but now with all of his compliments and kindness she considered herself his. She would do anything he asked without question for this was now her new master, he had to be. All of her friends were gone and her old master had always said that she would never make any new ones. "This one would like to call Lauo home. She would like much to go back with Ruler-Detox."
Her voice was lower, demure even as she spoke. Now her head dropped further so that it was even lower than Detox's as she spoke a question that was even quieter. "Vervain... i-is... beautiful?" The mare was quite unused to such kindness and such was quite shier than she was normally prone to be. [/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]

'CAUSE YOU'RE GONNA NEED ONE TO GET RID OF ME BABY
Detox let his ears flicker back towards home, nervousness kicking in as he worried about others attempting to claim his land. However, his attention fell back to the mare as she spoke again. The light was fading more rapidly now but the brute was still completely blind, relying on his other sharp senses to take over for the lack of eyesight.
This one would like to call Lauo home. She would like much to go back with Ruler-Detox.
The grey stallion smiled a triumphant grin, briefly allowing his nose to touch the mare's forehead, ruffling her thick forelock.
It pleases me much to hear you say that, Vervain. Shall we head off soon? The path from here can be difficult to navigate during night hours.
Tox sensed her head lower than his now and a frown marred his forehead. Was she laying down? No, she couldn't be - he hadn't heard her drop to her knees. His ears twitched forward as he strained to listen to the mare's actions, his nostrils wide as he took in the scents around him.
Vervain... i-is... beautiful?
Her words caught the tall stallion off guard and a soft, gentle laugh sounded from deep in his belly. He would not have taken this mare to be one who had not been called beautiful! To him, all mares were beautiful and although he could not see, her personality was enough to call one beautiful. For once he cursed his glowing eyes - although they were entertaining to some, they came with a dear price for Tox himself. He was eager to reach his lands of ever-night where he could see the mare as if they were standing in a patch of the brightest daylight.
Oh, my dear Vervain, you are the most beautiful mare I've had the pleasure of meeting and I'm glad to be privileged enough to share my home with you. Detox smiled gently at the mare, his eyes soft and happiness flooding through him.

"T-thanks... No one has ever said that to Vervain before."
So many compliments! So many that her head felt like it was spinning due to sheer pleasure! His glowing eyes, now filled with warmth and kindness, made her shiver all over with her own sense of joy. Yes, they should head off soon. She could hardly stand the feeling of waiting anymore she wanted to go now to begin a new life under this wonderful new horse! She turned her head in the direction that Detox had come from and took a few tentative steps in that direction before looking back, she was unused to leading and besides she didn't know where to go to get to this eternal-night-place. "Can head off now? Vervain would like much to see the new home. She has never had a real home before." Her old nomadic life had never offered a permanent residence so she was actually quite excited to have someplace to settle down in. ((Sorry it's so short but I couldn't get anything more because they're about to leave.)) [/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]

'CAUSE YOU'RE GONNA NEED ONE TO GET RID OF ME BABY
Can head off now? Vervain would like much to see the new home. She has never had a real home before.
Looking with kind, soft eyes upon the mare, Detox beckoned with a gesture of his head towards the way he had approached. Ears swiveled around, one face the mare whilst the other pointed towards his homeland.
Come, my dear, let us walk and talk.
Turning around with his haunches, Detox waited until the mare was by his side until he moved off, gauging her position through the feel of her coat on his own as he brushed up against her and by listening to her footfalls. The ear closest to Vervain remained determinedly fixed on the mare whilst the other flickered forward and back, keeping a strict eye on his surroundings.
Why has no one ever called you beautiful, my lovely? That is very strange for every mare deserves to have someone to adore them, dote on them and to provide a home and safety for them. Me, I believe that all need shelter and warmth, love and care. You are forever welcome to call my land your home for as long as it suits you, dear Vervain.
OOC: No problem :3 Feel free to continue this in Lauo if you wish!
