Nephthys
___
Large, sparkling wings beat the air as a horse with a long sparkling horn flew through the air. Her bright coat shone with health as she scanned the ground for any sign of life. The burned forest that she saw below didn't seem very promising but who knew what could be found? Besides, even if there wasn't anything she had sent her mate Ozzie out earlier to find something for her to eat... or rather, drink. She'd told him where to look for her and it should be about time for the red horse to return.
Her white hooves landed on the ground, stirring up a small cloud of dust. The strange finned-tail flicked back and forth as her nose wrinkled in irritation at the dust-disturbance. Within a few moments though the dust settled and she walked forward towards the cliff and stood looking out across the land. A slight breeze started to blow, cooling her sun-warmed pelt, it ruffled her mane and she closed her eyes in joy.
Ah, the wind felt grand and how she could overlook the land made her feel almost as powerful as when she flew. She loved having power and feeling in charge, it was in her nature. Stallions thought that they were all that but truly mares were the powerful ones for they could wrap a stallion fully around their hooves.

Ozymandias
And speaking of being wrapped around someone's hooves: Ozymandias was more or less powerless to do anything other then what Nephthys asked. It wasn't by any force of magic or will, but rather merely willingness: if the mare had a need, then Ozzy wanted to provide for it.
And so he did.
He flew out further then the rift and did manage to find enough fauna to please his mate, but the question was one of what he could bring back to her. Flying limited him significantly, but they had agreed to meet upon the ground, and that meant he could bring her back something good.
It hadn't taken long, using his shadow manipulation, to scare a mother and faun in his direction: he couldn't make distinct shapes yet, but the shifting, roiling unnatural shadows were apparently enough. He used that to chase them directly to where he was waiting, and made quick worth of both of them. First he drained the mother, for himself, and helped himself to some of the flesh, and then he gently lived the faun by the neck and began to drag it off.
The creature was unconscious, and dying from the wounds he had inflicted: it's heartbeat was faint but still present. It would do nicely, with the only negative being it's small size-- but perhaps it could be a decent starter for Nephthys, anyway. Certainly better then rabbits, to which he would be limited if he intended to fly to meet her.
It took some doing, but eventually he spied the glittering form of his mate and shifted directions, dragging the not-yet-corpse to where she was waiting. When beside her, he dropped his hold and nudged her shoulder gently, affectionately. "I have brought you this. It is still alive." He paused a beat, glancing behind him, and added, "Most of the mother is fresh too, but I drained her. I can lead you to her, if you are still hungry." Never could one accuse him of leaving his mate to starve.

Nephthys
___
Her sharp eyes watched from her position on the cliff for the return of her mate, it didn't take long before she heard a dragging sound. A smile appeared at her lips and her wings adjusted ever so slightly so they would give off a bit more sparkle in the sun, to make it easier for him to spot her. It didn't take long before he saw and headed straight towards her.
A smirk that didn't match her angelic appearance formed on her face, it appeared that her request of dinner hadn't gone unanswered. Ah, what a good mate Ozzie was. She had been lucky to snag him when she did!
For a moment the mare pretended that she hadn't noticed him, her eyes remained fixed on the horizon. She heard the small carcass hit the ground beside her but it wasn't until the stallion nudged her that she turned to look at him. Emerald eyes blinked up at the red horse with gratitude, the earlier smirk had been wiped off of her face and replaced with a far more coquettish grin. "Oh, Ozzie, thank-you so much. Young blood that is still alive? Why, that is perfect!"
She rubbed her muzzle tenderly against his cheek before peering down at the fawn. She could smell the blood and hear the fawn's heart beating, her mouth started salivating quite involuntarily. Then, her pupils slitted and the fangs on her upper lip slid out whereupon she bit into the fawn's neck and drained it. The taste of fresh blood was delicious, the flesh would be as well. The blue mare preferred blood over meat but she was still hungry and when choiced with young meat over old she would take the young. She raised her head and touched her nose to his. "This is fine, Ozzie-dear, I'll eat this." The blood and fawn was enough to keep her going for a while so she'd leave the mother Ozymandias or whatever other predators were out there. She began on the fawn and made quick work on the poor animal before lifting her head to smile at her mate. "I swear, you spoil me, I hardly have to hunt with you around." Her voice obviously showed she was pleased with his "spoiling" of her. [/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]

Ozymandias
She was pretending not to notice him. That annoyed Ozymandias for a tic; the stallion's patience for other horses was not long at the best of times. But, of course, she was the exception; as soon as nephthys turned and leveled those green eyes to him, the annoyance melted away. Truly, he would do anything for her.
He returned her affectionate nuzzle, and then stepped back to let her enjoy the meal in piece, his attention focusing as much on her as on their surroundings. He would watch her back when she was vulnerable, and make sure she could relax; it wasn't much of a sacrifice for him, since he never relaxed, and preferred it that way.
"That is the idea." he answered warmly, allowing her a small smile. "You deserve only the tenderest of meat." as any carnivorous queen would.
Which brought him to the thoughts he had been entertaining since they had arrived in this land: kings and queens and land ownership and all of that. His mind tightened reflectively around his magic and the shadows around them danced thinly for a moment.
"Do we have a plan, or are we going wherever the winds take us?" he asked lightly, as he watched his mate eat, of two minds about either potential. Either he would have to deal with other horses, which would be annoying but could yield excellent results, or they would continue to travel alone and he would practice his magic in relative solitude. Both had pros and cons, and he wasn't sure in what direction he leaned.
