Skorius
Skorius had heard tell that once, the great city of Velvedore was much larger then it was now, full of bustle and activity. He could barely imagine that; he'd been coming here since he was a foal, and this place was a mecca of glorious activity to him.
It was probably the Ariks, he thought. They had to be the cause of the excitement, and it probably had to do with their lovely, brightly-colored coats. Certainly, in his somewhat limited experience, those horses who shared bright coats in common with the Ariks knew how to have the best time-- himself included.
That's why he was here. He'd come to pick up an order of fanciful jewelry, but alas, the Arik from whom he'd ordered it told him with great regret that it wasn't ready. So sad! But Skorius wasn't one to look on the negative side of things- oh no! He would look on the bright side of the mischance, and pass the day in the city.
Prancing off to the side of a busy square, he shook out his mane and lionine tail, and settle down to watch the huge felines and horses mingle in the city.

Reliance had never been to the city before, so he was not reeally sure what to expect. As he wandered the streets, he saw a myraid of brightly colored felines, as well as equines. So much activity was starting to make him a little nervous.
Though he had not heard the voices in his head for several days, he knew they were there. For now, perhaps they were sleeping, and thus he had a brief break from their commands. He feared that the bustle of this place mingled with his own anxiety might rouse them.
The two-tone blue Marwari stallion looked down a street and then another. Truth was, he was good and lost now. He thought to ask for directions. He shook his head, and choose a less busy street to head down.

Skorius
The less-busy street happened to partially feed right into the square where Skorius was lounging and people-watching. There was some difference between looking lost and looking like you were doing nothing-- a stallion walking nearby looked the former, and he looked the latter.. why not switch up both of those situations? With a smile on his face, Skorius sauntered over to Reliance.
"You're looking a bit lost-- anything I can help you find?" After all, he was relatively familiar with this bustling place. He could afford to be a good Samaritan.

"Uhm, not in particular," Reliance began, and turned to find a stallion speaking to him. He dipped his head briefly in greetinh, but continued to look about himself. There was just so much going on.
"Is there anywhere, uh, quiet, about?" Maybe he could find somewhere he could collect his thoughts in peace and decide what to do. Coming to the city perhaps was not such a good idea after all.

Skorius
"Quiet?" Skorius laughed, ears perked forward. "This is about as quiet as it gets, but you can get away from the worst of the traffic. This way!" He turned, his movements more feline to match his mane and tail then not, and sauntered to the back of the square he'd been lounging in, away from the foot-traffic and under a shop's brightly colored awning.
"This any better?" he asked, unperturbed. "The city can be a bit overwhelming, if you've never been here before." Heck, with all the Ariks and the size of things and the games, it could be overwhelming to those who HAD been there before. He just liked the sensation of being overwhelmed.

"I have never been here before," Reliance admitted as he followed this stranger down a street and to a less busy square. "Yes, this is a little better. I can hear myself think." Then barely above a whisper he said, "Not that I really want to hear them talk right now. Maybe they'll stay asleep."
Clearing his thought, he looked about the square and the brightly colored sign-posts advertising the wares for sale within. "So, do you live here, or are you visiting as well?"

Skorius
It didn't surprise Skorius that this particular stallion was new here: that lost look he'd had on his face when Skor had first seen him was usually a clear indication of that one. He nodded, torn between being amused and sympathetic. He remembered his first time in Velvedere-- to a foal, this place was even more large and overwhelming, and it was where the stallion had first fallen in love with all things wildly garish and enthralling.
"You had that look about you." Skorius said warmly, "But you get used to it." A look of confusion crossed his face at the other horses' mention of other people and sleeping-- did he mean the horses and Arik milling around them? "Are you meeting someone somewhere?" He didn't want to make this stranger late for anything.
The concept of him living here was one that Skorius often entertained, but he'd never made that leap- not yet. "No, I don't live here-- just visit often, and always have. Currently I have no home but wherever my hooves take me!" It didn't seem to terribly concern him.

"No, I'm not meeting anyone," Reliance replied, unsure at first why the other stallion had even asked. Then he realized that he must have overheard him. He looked away, not wanting to meet the other stallions gaze, Hopefully he would forget that he had heard him say anything so obviously obsurd.
"I wander abou myself," he admitted. "Never been here before, so I thought I would come and see what I would." Looked over with a weak smile. "Guess I got a little overwhelmed by it all."

Skorius
Skor found this stranger mildly confusing-- when he spoke, he met the eyes of who he was talking to! But certainly it seemed more like shyness then rudeness, and Skor was not about to hold that against this one. If one was shy, there was probably a reason for it. He would just do what he could to mitigate the issue by being friendly.
The news that this stranger was a wanderer made him smile widely and bark a laugh. "The city does have that affect." he said fondly- he loved the activity here. "I'm Skorius, by the way. Pleased to meet you!"

He dipped his head to the stallion. "I am Reliance," he said. "It is nice to meet you."
With a sigh, he looked about them. Though certainly quieter than the street he had wandered down earlier, there were still those out an about. "I suppose I should at least make a go of a decent visit," he said. "Since I am already here. Where would I go to find something to eat.? Or stay the night?"

Skorius
"That's the spirit." Skorius replied to that cheerfully, and then turned his attention to the thought of food and lodging.
"Well," he said, glancing down the ways, to where the colorful fur of the merchant Ariks was just barely visible. "The merchants sell fruits and other fun things-- and meat, for the Ariks, so just be clear about what you're buying and you'll be fine. Some merchants also have patches you can graze in for a price." he shrugged, as if this option didn't appeal to him too terribly "And I'm sure you could find inns somewhere to stay and such-- though, really, there are things to do at any time of night here." He said this cheerfully

Reliance listened intently to the options presented. He did not have much in the way of money, but he was reluctant to mention it. He did not want this fellow to feel pity for him.
"Perhaps it's too early to think of food and lodging just yet," the two-tone blue stallion said, trying to appear cheerful to match his companions mood. "Whatt about activities. Preferrably in a quieter establishment. Perhaps games where one might earn some coin?" It was the best way he could think to approach the situation.
He just hoped that he was not already being too much of a burden.

Skorius
Truthfully, games with which to earn coin-- or earning coin at all, really-- weren't much what Skorius had familiarity with, since he rarely had much in the way of money, either. Indeed, he usually could get by with bartering: the feathers his mane and tail shed on occasion were usually enough for getting him a bite to eat, and he did not mind sleeping under the moon. Nevertheless, he turned his attention to the thought.
"I'm certain, with enough searching, you could find something." he said, twitching his tail thoughtfully. "Velvedere has almost anything you could possibly imagine." he smiled charmingly, and added, "But I admit that I'm not terribly familiar with such things, myself."

Reliance did not mean to show his disappointment, but he sighed heavily. "The truth is, I do not have much in the way of money," he admitted. Another thought struck him. "Perhaps you know of someone for which I could aid, and thus earn myself a meal and a place to stay."
He looked about. "I doubt I will stay in the city for long, but I would like to see more of it, and of course, pay my way."

Skorius
Reliance's admission left poor Skorius feeling a little put out-- he didn't have money either, but it wasn't as if most horses grew glorious feathers which could be easily traded as his could, and he didn't particularly know how to handle this situation. The idea that they could run minor errands for someone in exchange seemed much more cheerful to his mind.
"Certainly!" he replied, "It's not as if they can leave their stalls- we can almost certainly trade a favor for some lunch." He peered back out into the main street again, past the carts with fresh fruit in them.
