Vervain
* * *
After staying in her herd for a bit of time Vervain had found that her stomach was starting to grow larger. At first it hadn't felt awkward and there was only minor pain but after more time the pain had gotten worse. Finally she felt the urge to travel far from the herd lands to have her foal. It was excruciating, possibly the worse pain she'd ever felt, but after a few hours it had passed and a new foal was brought into the world. Her natural mothering instincts had taken over and she'd washed and cared for the baby which she deemed the most beautiful thing she'd ever seen. Especially at night when she had the qualities of her father. The mare was so proud and couldn't wait to go back to Lauo to show her baby to Detox though she had to wait for her foal to gain strength before heading back. Imagine her surprise though when the foal --who she decided to name Lilith due to some strange dream-like memory-- came back with presents from some "Fire Maiden", it seemed as if the foal was stronger than she thought though Vervain was still racked with worry for her child.
"Should not have snuck off. Little-Lily could have been hurt. But presents are good. This one glad you have them. Ruler-Detox will be pleased."
The foal walking next to the large mare didn't seem unduly upset that her mother had been worried, she simply walked along with a nonchalant expression. The blanket draped across her back and a sack of seeds clutched in one of her prehensile tails. "Sorry, Mama, This One will try to be more careful, okay? You don't have to worry about me so much though, This One isn't afraid of anything. She'll fight to protect her mother too! You did say you were gonna teach me to fight, didn't ya?" Her deep blue eyes looked up at her mother curiously as they walked along, coming closer and closer to the city of talking cats. Vervain sighed, her daughter --she shuddered at the strange thought of her own offspring-- seemed like the type of horse that loved fighting... The type of horse was that was reckless. The type her old mas-- no no! She needed to stop thinking about him, she had a new life and new obligations. There was Lilith to think about now. "Yes... This One will try. Is not bad to learn." Lilith smiled and puffed out her chest as she strutted beside her mother, she would be the best fighter the herd had ever seen! Vervain smiled at the young filly as finally they stepped into the city. Dark blue eyes blinked from beneath the thick forelock as the mare gazed around at the strange happenings. There were shops, an arena, and horses but that wasn't what caught her attention. What caught her attention were the colorful talking cats that were walking around. Vervain had heard of the Ariks but she'd never had the pleasure of meeting one. "Mama, is this Lauo?" Vervain shook her head as she stood in the city, large and quite lost amid the hustle and bustle. "No, Little-Lily, this is a city. This One and Lilith will look around." The filly didn't complain about this and gave a toothy grin as she pattered behind her mother, viewing shops, horses, and cats alike. Darrowii The ground was very far away.
A large stallion, Darrow had to constantly remember to keep track of where he was going and-- more importantly-- what was beneath him, especially in the city. It was so crowded here that his dinner-plate feet could hurt another creature's paws or ankles quite by accident, and he didn't want that!
Even given this, Darrow narrowly missed running bodily into the little foal that was following Vervain around: distracted by an Arik carrying a very large pile of objects not-entirely-balanced on his head, the stallion ducked out of the big cat's way, and into Lillith's way. Only his surprisingly deft dodge back to where he'd been standing as soon as the Arik passed prevented a collision, and it was still enough to make him very concerned.
"Forgive me, ladies! I did not mean to get in your way." He said quickly, hopefully mitigating any anger the mother might throw in his direction. "Are you okay?" That question was directed at the foal specifically, and the note of good-natured concern in his voice was quite clear.

Vervain
* * *
Mother and daughter alike were fascinated by everything they saw, Vervain had never been to the city and Lilith certainly had no experience with this place. So when a horse that was equally as large as the palomino veered into their path neither one of them noticed until the last second. A neigh of warning escaped Vervain's mouth but Lilith couldn't react in time, it was a good thing that the stranger did because the filly's short life could've ended right then.
Vervain skittered over and nudged her daughter worriedly, afraid that she'd been hurt. "Lily? Is she okay?"
Her heart was beating quickly but she needn't have worried about the foal. Lilith was perfectly unharmed and was staring in amazement up at the stallion. She'd never seen any other horse besides her mother so the large horse with his stark blue horse was amazing! "This One is fine! Mama, stop worrying! He didn't hurt me." Her blue gaze shifted briefly to her mother before going back up to the blue stallion. Vervain snorted but stopped nudging her daughter. Now her eyes --though concealed by her forelock-- met those of the blue horse. "Is fine. Blue-Stallion did not mean to get in way. No one was hurt. Is fine." Vervain was completely ready to leave the conversation right there so they could head back to Lauo but Lilith had other plans. "Wow, Mister, This One has never seen a horse so blue! You look so cool!" Her twin tails wagged with excitement. It was so fun meeting new people! [/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]

Darrowii Darrowii breathed a sigh of relief, and then looked between mother and daughter and nodded. "I'm glad." There was nothing quite so terrifying as the deserved wrath of an angry mother, and so Darrow was glad he had avoided that particular bullet.
Secretly overjoyed when the little foal decided to speak to him longer, despite her mother being happy to wander away, Darrow smiled warmly. He liked foals, and had none of his own. Her strange manner of speaking did give him pause for a second, but not long enough to deter his response: "Why, thank you, little one." he winked, "There aren't many who are as blue as I. That's why my mom named me Darrowii, after a local kind of blueberry." It wasn't a fact he shared with adults often, but being called 'blueberry' instead of his name was much more charming out of a child's mouth, and thus he was willing to let that one slide.
His glance towards Vervain was apologetic-- it wasn't his intention to hold them up, but he didn't want to be rude and wander away.

Vervain
* * *
While she did want to get back home and show off her daughter she had to admit that this new horse was rather nice. Perhaps he was one of the stallions that enjoyed talking to foals. Vervain gave a reluctant smile and allowed her child to continue talking to Darrowii.
The buckskin foal stared at the blue horse with wonder. Named after a blueberry? That sounded awesome! She'd never tasted one of course but her mother told her of the delicious flavor. "A blueberry? Have you ever tasted the blueberries before? This One hasn't but my Mama says they're good."
She smiled up at the stranger with her ears pricked forward in total interest. "Mister Blueberry, This One is called Lilith! And that's my mother Vervain. We're from Lauo! Or at least that's what mother says...?" Vervain nodded to show she was correct and spoke to clarify. "Yes. This One is Vervain and her daughter is Little Lily. They come from Lauo where is night all the time. Hope these two are not bothering you. Are not taking up Darrowii's time?" She had given up the idea of getting away quicker because as long as Lilith wanted to talk then she would talk.
